Q&A: Is it necessary to set them computer on safe mode when scanning it with an anti-malware software?
Question by ^_^: Is it necessary to set them computer on safe mode when scanning it with an anti-malware software?
So I apparently have malware, so I downloaded malwarebytes in safe mode and it detected and got rid of 10 trojan horses. I just downloaded two other free spyware/malware scanners, and I was wondering if I should scan again in safe mode??
Why is it necessary?

Usually you boot into Safe Mode so the virus doesn’t have control over files and it cannot start, therefore the Anti-Malware or Virus software can safely remove it. I wouldn’t find it necessary to reboot into safe mode unless you are still having malware problems.

Is it safe to open a flash drive after removing Trojan Horses from it, or will my PC become infected?
Question by Jen K: Is it safe to open a flash drive after removing Trojan Horses from it, or will my PC become infected?
I ran a scan on my flash drive with Avast! before opening it, I found it had two Trojan Horses, so I removed them. The Trojans came from work where they have an mid size network and no fire wall protection.
I am also currently running spy bot and will subsequently run Malwarebytes’ and Ad-Aware. I have to check some work before Monday, but I’m a little worried I’ll somehow infect my home PC.

What type of virus would create an administrator user account in WXP only visible in safe mode?
Question by Compassionate Girl: What type of virus would create an administrator user account in WXP only visible in safe mode?
I assume this is a virus because when I start in safe mode from time to time I see it there. Most of the time I am able to get rid of it after running SuperAntiSpyware and SpyBot Search & Destroy. However, both those programs have come back clean and its still there. I ran them in safe mode as well as Eusing Registry Cleaner and CCleaner. How do I know if its a virus? What else can I run to get rid of it?
