My Computer Got Spyware/adware And My Computer Is Running Very Slow? What Should I Do?
My computer just started getting a ton of ads and then it started running very slow… I have McAfee and the Spyware protection was turned off and I don’t know how, but it was. McAfee also removed several trojans and it said it couldn’t remove some… Please what should I do? I am using my Nintendo Wii to get on the internet since my computer is going so slow. Help would be very appreciated.

Spyware/adware Removal???
Ok I downloaded SuperAntiSpyware Free Edition and I tried removing the adwares. I also have Spyware Doctor and it says I hav 123threats. I even hav Norton Security Scan and i says I hav 2 high-risk items and its Adware.ActiveSearch and its a low level and Adware.Lop and its a high level risk and I am currently doin another scan with SuperAntiSpyware to see wat it says… but I dont know doesnt anyone hav any help to offer or to tell me wats goin on?
Spyware-adware Removal?
i keep trying to find a FREE spyware and adware remover that will work with windows 98. all the FREE ones i pull up just scan for free and then want you to buy the program to fix the problems it finds. is there a FREEone that i can download that will work with 98se. things like icons in the quicklaunch bar keep vanishing. been told i probably have spyware problems and i nedd to correct this. also, how do you recover lost quickluanch items , like view desktop icon. asked this portion of this question before, but none of the answers i received worked.

i dont know how it got on there,but its there all the time.
the only tool i have that recognizes it is called adaware.it says it deletes it,but the next time i start my pc again.its right back,+ it drains some of my web surfing!

Spyware/adware Removal Question..?
Recently, my computer became infected with some rather nasty spyware. I installed an anti-spyware program to get rid of it, but there are five traces that always remain. I am told by the program that they cannot be removed until the computer is restarted, but when I restart them, the “core adware” program always remains.
Is there another method for removing spyware/adware (ALL traces) that I have not tried?
BTW, the anti-spyware program is Webroot Spy Sweeper, and the main browser at the moment is Internet Explorer. O.S. is WinXP

Help With Friend's Computer Problem – Possible Spyware/adware Removal?
Hi. My friend was just given a computer last week. Since she’s had it, there’s pop-ups that keeps coming up in the right-hand corner saying she doesn’t have the updated version of Antivirus 2009. It is made to look like it is from Windows Security Center. BUT, when you click on it to fix the issue, it asks you to enter your email address and a product key. It goes on to say that if you don’t have a product key (which of course she does not) just enter your email address and disable your firewall, then click continue. RED FLAG!!!! Well, after I looked on her computer, I am led to believe it’s adware/spyware. My problem is that I’ve been trying to go to different websites, mainly McAfee and Windows (defender), trying to scan her computer and remove the virus(es). When I type in the web address or click on the link provided, the page comes up saying something like the internet page cannot be displayed, or it just redirects me to a completely different website altogether. The virus is keeping me from accessing anything helpful for the situation on the internet. I have tried to remove the “program” by going under add/remove programs, but of course it’s not listed. Neither of us have any money to buy removal software – what can I do for her?
P.S. I am not a big computer person, so please try to Barney style any info you can provide me with. Thanks so much!
