Whats The Difference Between Windows Security And Regular Security Like Norton?

Posted by admin 23 June, 2009

I just got a new computer and downloaded norton security and I noticed a windows security icon also on the computer. I know that your not supposed to have two different virus protections so I just wanted to know if the windows icon is a seperate virus protection or if it is normal to have Thanks.

Windows now comes with a Firewall, but not an anti-virus. What you are seeing is the icon to the Windows security center. This lets you see the status of firewall, anti-virus, and windows update. It should be able to tell if you have a 3rd party firewall or anti-virus.
If you are using Norton Internet Security and have the firewall part enabled, you should disable the built-in windows firewall.
